Mid-Day Storm Update

The clipper system is starting to die out over the Appalachians as energy transfers to the coast where a coastal low is beginning to take shape off the Outer Banks. In between the two, there's plenty of scattered areas of lift depicted well by the current 700 mb vorticity chart shown here. This will diminish our widespread precipitation and lead to more banded-nature rain and snow as we head into this afternoon and evening. The rain/snow line will continue to crash to the south and east through the overnight, eventually all the way to the I95 corridor. Although quite scattered, any of these bands will be capable of producing decent bursts of snow leading to additional light accumulations...mainly along and north of the I64 corridor.
