Here's a 30-Day-Percent-Of-Normal-Precipitation map and latest Drought Monitor showing just how dry Virginia has been during the month of May. Parts of southwest and southside VA have been driest receiving as little as 10-25% of their normal rainfall over the period.
Fortunately, it looks like we'll start June off on a wet note...a cold front will get hung up across the area leading to periods of showers and storms over the next several days. I wouldn't be surprised to see much of the D0-Abnormally Dry area erased when the next Drought Monitor map is released Thursday.
