Quiet end to the work-week, things heat up again this weekend

(Posted
A cold front will push through today putting an end to the recent stretch of active weather.  Below's a map of all the severe weather reports since Saturday---most concentrated over southwest Virginia where storm parameters were better.
Beautiful shot of thunderstorm rolling over Massanutten...taken Tuesday evening from Cross Keys looking east towards Elkton by my good friend Micah Baker.
Shenandoah Valley Forecast
Today: Can't completely rule out a brief shower through this evening...most stay dry. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Thursday/Friday: Nicest days of the week by far.  High pressure works in brings partly cloudy skies, low humidity, and highs in the low to mid 80s.

Saturday/Sunday: Heat and humidity return as central plains ridging builds east.  Looks like we'll get back into a northwest flow pattern (similar to this past week) allowing more chances for showers and storms...wouldn't be surprised to see another MCS or two through early next week.  Highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.
