Very summer-feeling next two days; cooler, drier by mid week

(Posted Sunday 5/17 730pm)

Writing this update from the StormCruzzer as I head west with a few buddies from Virginia tech to chase storms over the next two weeks.  If you haven't already, be sure to find stormcruzzer on Facebook to keep up with our whereabouts and latest storm action.  We're making quite a push towards western Texas where we'll setup for storms monday and Tuesday.  This will be my third summer chasing in the Great Plains (once with a class through virginia tech and now on my second trip with stormcruzzer).  The storms out here are just on a completely different scale than the what we see back in virginia.  I'll be posting plenty of pictures over the coming days.

As for the weather back home, warm and muggy conditions will continue monday and Tuesday with pop up showers and storms during the afternoon. Tuesday may very well be our warmest day so far this year with highs climbing into the mid 80s across the Shenandoah valley... Can't rule out a 90 reading or two east of the blue ridge.  A cold front will push through Tuesday evening ushering in cooler, drier air under northwesterly breezes.  Expect lots of sun with highs in the low to mid 70s Wednesday through the end of the week.
