Generally Nice Weather for Graduation Activities this Weekend

(Posted Thursday 5/7 6 pm)

We saw partly cloudy skies, a few isolated mountain thunderstorms, and highs near 80 today.  Expect very similar weather through the weekend. We're stuck between a cold front over the plains and a coastal low (which may eventually become sub-tropical storm Ana?) off the southeast coast...neither of which are in a hurry to go anywhere.

Although there will be plenty of moisture in the area, there isn't any lifting mechanism to translate to much in the way of activity.  Our best shot will be from any isolated terrain-induced storm that rolls off the mountains into the valley...certainly possible each afternoon during peak heating---something we've already seen a lot of this week.

NAM simulated radar for Friday 3pm (start of the James Madison University Commencement Ceremony)
Looking ahead, the cold front over the plains will finally push east into the area early next week bringing our next good shot at precipitation and the return of more seasonal temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
