Storms later Today

A decent line of thunderstorms out ahead of a cold front will approach the area this afternoon and into the evening.  Latest short range models show this line weakening somewhat as it continues east.

There have already been some areas of clearing across parts of Virginia that are south of the stalled front.  This clearing will allow sunshine to destabilize things a bit this afternoon.  The first line will weaken but it looks like a secondary line may try to reorganize out ahead of it in some of the more unstable air.

Current Storm Prediction Center has a lot of the area in the slight chance for severe storms today.  The biggest threat will be damaging winds.
