12/29-12/30 Snowfall Forecast

Monday, December 29th 12pm Snow Update

Cold air will continue to stream into the area throughout the day.  Expecting a band of precipitation to develop along the mountains late this afternoon...changing to snow as the evening progresses.  Below is what I'm thinking snow wise.  The best accumulations (up to 2") will be mainly confined to the higher elevations of the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains...the southern Valley say south of Staunton may also do okay (up to an inch or so) since there will be a bit more precipitation further south to work with. North of there---up through Rockingham, Shenandoah, Page, and Warren counties---mainly just some mood flakes with the slight potential to see the ground dusted up. Moisture will quickly fade the further north you go...areas like Winchester will be lucky to even see flakes.  Enjoy whatever you get!
