Watching Coastal System Later this Week; Warm-Up On Way Towards End of September

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

Here are this morning's lows on this first full day of fall...generally low 40s with a few higher sheltered valleys that dipped into the mid-upper 30s.  Caanan Valley in West Virginia dropped down to 30, lowest temperature I could find in the area.

Morning Lows Tuesday 9/23

Expect a cool rest of the week, although overnight temperatures won't dip quite as low as they did last night.  There's a coastal system that will be worth keeping an eye on for Wednesday into Thursday.  The majority of the rain with this will be focused along the coast, but can't rule out a few showers as far west as the Shenandoah Valley before things clear out again for the weekend.

Looking ahead, it appears a large ridge will take hold of the east towards the end of September into the start of October.  This will allow a nice extended warm-up....I wouldn't be surprised if we flirt with the 80 degree mark during this time.  Up and down temps are more pretty normal this time of year.
