Typical Summer Pattern: Heat, Humidity, and Afternoon Storm Chances

Well today's storm action  ahead of the approaching cold front was a bit of a dud for most of the Shenandoah Valley with most locations recording less than a tenth of an inch of rain.  A decent storm did go through parts of Shenandoah county which dumped just over a quarter of an inch. Harrisonburg ended up with 0.04" with temperatures topping out right at the normal high (84).  It certainly felt much warmer with all the humidity.

The cold front will push through overnight and high pressure will work in.  This will help Thursday to not be quite as muggy but it will still be warm with temperatures back in the mid-80s.  There will be a slight chance for a few scattered upslope storms to develop tomorrow afternoon mainly across the higher elevations but most areas will stay dry.

High pressure will work its way off the coast by Friday allowing moisture and more chances for afternoon showers and thunderstorms through the weekend.  Looks like a very typical summer-time pattern for at least the next 7 days.  177 days 'til winter.
